Tuesday night the Nashville Predators (41-13-7) picked up the win against the Colorado Avalanche (26-24-11), 5-2. Nashville has won 15 of its last 16 home games and continues to be one of the hottest teams in the NHL. Things got a little feisty in the first period when Nashville’s Shea Weber took issue with a hit that Colorado’s Gabriel Landeskog laid on Weber’s teammate Roman Josi.
Landeskog flattened Josi with a hit along the boards in which he appears to vault himself into Josi shoulder first. Josi and Landeskog both went to the ice in a wild heap. Both got up quickly, but Landeskog got up to find Weber coming at him to fight. It’s hard to tell if it is a clean hit as Landeskog looks like he leaves his feet but the replays are inconclusive. Weber would be assessed an instigator, fighting, and game misconduct penalty, which was worth it to make a stand for a teammate. Weber’s absence didn’t hurt the Predators as they would get the win without him for most of the game.
