Max Verstappen’s Girlfriend is No Stranger to the World of Motorsports

Max Verstappen is the two-time defending Formula One World Champion, winning the title in 2021 and 2022 for Red Bull Racing. The F1 star is a fan favorite from Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles and is the product of a racing family. When he made his debut in 2015 at just 17 years old, he became the youngest driver to ever participate in Formula 1. Verstappen's net worth is over $200 million, and he's just 25 years of age. But Max Verstappen's girlfriend model Kelly Piquet, has had quite the career as well, and she is certainly not out of her element around the racetrack.

The two have been publicly dating since January 2021, an international couple with Piquet hailing from Brazil and Verstappen of Belgian-Dutch descent who competes under the Dutch flag.

Not only is Piquet descended from another Formula One World Champion Nelson Piquet, but she has covered motorsport in her roles as a blogger, social media influencer and public relations professional.

Piquet is the daughter of three-time world champion racer Nelson Piquet and Dutch model Sylvia Tamsma. She was born in Homburg, Germany and lived in the South of France before moving to Brazil at the age of 12. Piquet studied International Relations at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.

She took an interest in fashion and worked for Vogue Latinoamerica, as well as Bergdorf Goodman and KCD PR agency, then embraced her mother's roots by working as a Brazilian model, both on the catwalk and in the photo studio. In April 2015, Piquet began running social media for Formula E, an electric cars single-seater motorsport championship.

Formula E is an World Championship under the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and is the first single-seater racing series outside of Formula One to be given world championship status.

Piquet's Dating History Includes Another Formula One Driver

Before getting together with Verstappen, Piquet was dating Russian racing driver Daniil Kvyat. After starting dating in January 2017, Piquet and Kvyat had a daughter Penelope together in July 2019.

That December, the relationship ended, maybe soured by the fact that Kvyat missed Penelope's birth because he was finishing third at the German Grand Prix. Word spread across the paddocks at F1 races that the two were on the outs.

By January of 2021, Piquet's relationship with Verstappen had become public via Instagram, with their first post together wishing everyone "Happy New Year," and Verstappen hoping his followers find "success, love and happiness just as I found mine."

Once the cat was out of the bag, Piquet used her status as an influencer to cheer on her man. Piquet often posts about Verstappen's accomplishments on social media, including after his 2021 and 2022 F1 world titles.

In addition to being a racing star, Verstappen has also featured in the Netflix series "Formula 1: Drive to Survive", a documentary/reality series that gives fans an inside look at the highs and lows of being a racing driver. The fifth series documents Verstappen's win in the 2022 Formula One World Championship as well as his battles with other drives such as Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton (who is one world title away from passing Michael Schumacher for most all-time) and George Russell, while also battling Ferrari's Charles LeClerc.
