It's been a long time since we've seen college basketball teams make it into a video game, but it looks like this year's 2K NBA game could feature some colleges. It's by no means going to be the same as when the college ranks had their own entire game, but it's a good start.
2K Sports has obtained the license for at least 11 schools and it looks like they would be utilized in the MyCareer part of the game. MyCareer is a story based mode where the user controls only his or her single player through the narrative path that has been laid out for them.
The licenses for Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova, and Wisconsin have all been acquired by 2K through the Collegiate Licensing Company. Davidson is another that will likely be included and there's the possibility a few more will join them.
The last time we saw college basketball in a video game was 2009 and in this particular case the schools will not have similar rosters, editable player names or anything that could get them in trouble with the NCAA. This is a very exciting time for timers as the 2K basketball games were already deep and it seems they are only going more in depth.
