The demise of the SEC is greatly exaggerated according to this stat

So stop trying to put the conference down!

Many people were ready to call for the SEC apocalypse after Week 1 of the college football season since half the league lost its games. Let's not forget that one of those games was a conference game so someone had to lose regardless —- it was South Carolina vs Vanderbilt by the way —- and the conference also had three wins against AP Top 25 teams, more than any other conference.

Not only did the conference get some important wins, but with some more wins this past weekend it extended some of the nation's longest winning streaks. In fact, three SEC teams own the nation's longest winning streaks.

The fourth school is quite a surprise as its San Diego State with 12 straight wins. The Aztecs haven't lost since Sept. 26 of last year against Penn State. Tennessee hasn't lost since last year's Alabama game and Alabama hasn't lost since the Ole Miss game last year. Georgia hasn't lost since the Florida game last season.
