Earlier this week, ESPN announced that Mark May will be leaving College Football Final after 10 years on the show. May's departure was the latest move by ESPN ahead of college football season to tweak their studio shows and coverage for the 2015 season.
College Gameday will have Rece Davis hosting, as Chris Fowler focuses on his play-by-play duties on the ABC prime time game, as Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso remain on as analysts. Davis has plenty of studio show experience and handling Corso and Herbie will probably be an easier job than reigning in Lou Holtz and May so I don't expect any drop off in the show's quality from the host.
ESPN's other studio shows will also have a new look. College Football Final will have Adnan Virk hosting in Davis' place and new analysts in Joey Galloway and Danny Kanell with Holtz leaving the network and May moving to a different show. This will likely mean a very different look for College Football Final — and the other iterations of that studio show that those three will be part of — but that might be a positive change. The Holtz/May duo's shtick had worn out its welcome with some and this new lineup will bring something new.
ABC's college football studio show — that airs before, after, and during halftime of ABC's slate of games — will continue to be hosted by John Saunders with Mack Brown, who was solid in his first year with the network, as an analyst along with the addition of Mark May.
