Rolando McClain reportedly has gained 40 pounds, and his situation is worse than we imagined

In five seasons, he has registered 407 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and four interceptions

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain was hit with a 10-game suspension stemming from substance abuse violations, and reports from Bleacher Report note he's in a tragic state.

According to Jason Cole, McClain is addicted to "purple drank," a combination of Sprite and prescription cold medication. Per the report, McClain has gained "roughly 40 pounds." Purple drank is the same addictive drink that derailed Jamarcus Russell's career.

Cole also reported it's "almost impossible to see him returning to the Cowboys," following his latest misstep.

McClain registered 80 tackles and an interception in 11 starts last season. The Cowboys will feel a significant dropoff after opting not to bring back the troubled Greg Hardy, as well as losing McClain to suspension and Randy Gregory (10 games) and Demarcus Lawrence (four games) to suspensions.

In five seasons, McClain has registered 407 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and four interceptions.
