Legendary college basketball coach tragically passes away at age 90

Legendary Michigan State coach Jud Heatchote has sadly passed away at age 90. The school released an official announcement with quotes from current coach and his predecessor in Tom Izzo.

Heathcote coached the Spartans from 1976 to 1995 and won the National Championship in 1979 coaching future Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson. He would go on to win the Big Ten three times and was named the NABC Coach of the Year in 1990. Before that, he was the coach at Montana from 1971 to 1976 where he won the Big Sky Conference twice.

He finished his career with over 400 wins and 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.
