Former Notre Dame cornerback Devin Butler has only been at Syracuse for a few months, but he has already suffered what appears to be a serious injury during spring practice.
Butler was carted off the field near the end of the Orange's eighth spring practice, according to the Syracuse-Post Standard. The severity of the injury is unknown, but Butler was seen on crutches after the injury.
Butler transferred to Syracuse after playing three seasons at Notre Dame. He is a graduate transfer and eligible to play immediately.
His last season in South Bend ended in controversy after he was arrested on felony charges of battery to law enforcement and resisting law enforcement. He was already set to miss most of the season after re-fracturing his left foot in June.

Notre Dame suspended him indefinitely after the incident, and then he transferred to Syracuse after the season.
Butler recorded 39 tackles and one interception during his three seasons with the Fighting Irish. He was expected to be a starter at corner this season for the Orange.
