Microsoft to launch special sale this coming Tuesday

Very good news for gamers.

Backwards compatibility was for a long time one of the most sought after features of a new console. The ability to play games from an older model - in this case playing Xbox 360 games on an Xbox One - was of natural importance to gamers who maybe didn't want to switch back and forth from different hardware in order to play their old favorites. In some cases, trading in an older console was the obvious route to affording a newer one.

Luckily for Xbox One owners, Microsoft has embraced this feature in more ways than one. According to a recent announcement from Xbox Director of Programming Larry Hryb, a sale will soon be available covering original Xbox 360 titles.

The sale, starting on May 16, will discount over 275 backwards compatible titles up to 75% off, allowing fans of the original Xbox 360 games easy access to a wide range of older titles.

Currently no exact prices have been announced, although Red Dead Redemption, Skate 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Grand Theft Auto IV are specifically mentioned in the above Tweet.
