There are several former WWE champions that are currently out of the company, yet still hoping for a triumphant return. This return might be the most plausible of them all.

Rob Van Dam gave an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this week, and the former WWE champion declared his interest in returning to the world’s largest wrestling promotion.

I have an open door with WWE as far as wrestling goes. I also have an ongoing merchandise relationship. I hope that the right opportunity presents itself so that I will do another run with WWE. For me, the fans missing me and wanting to see me on TV is very important, but the business end of it also has to be right.

With WWE currently being “split” between the RAW and SmackDown brands, Van Dam would be a more than welcome addition. He is a familiar name that was always popular with the fans, and he could help lend some credibility to either television show.

Van Dam is a former WWE, ECW, TNA, and six-time WWE Intercontinental Champion. He was last in WWE back in 2014.
