MLB base runner got plunked in the neck with a throw and had to leave the game

If they tried to do this on purpose, they couldn't.

If they tried to do this again, my guess is they never could.

In a bizarre occurrence of timing, karma, or just simple bad luck, Travis Shaw, the third baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers, was hit in the neck with a throw while trying to steal second base. Check it out:

The Brewers were playing the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday when Shaw headed for second. Rays catcher Jose Sucre uncorked a throw that hit Shaw right in the neck. Shaw was on the ground for a few seconds but walked off the field under his own power.

After the game, Shaw said he was sore, but OK. He suffered a bruised neck, according to ESPN, and is day-to-day after concussion tests cleared him to play.
