Rose Namajunas (7-3) TKO’d Joanna Jedrzejczyk (14-1) to become the new Strawweight Champion at UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Round 1

After an intense showdown, Namajunas pushed Jedrzejczyk away. Namajunas used great head movement to work her way inside, attempting to stay away from Jedrzejczyka’s vicious jab. Namajunas tagged Jedrzejczyk and pounced.

Jedrzejczyk made her way to her feet again, but Namajuna connected yet again with a nasty left and finished her. UNREAL.

Jedrzejczyk won her last four fights by decision, but had previously shown an ability to end her opponents with four knockout victories and one submission win.

Jedrzejczyk was just one title defense away from breaking Ronda Rousey’s title defense record.
