6-time Pro Bowl WR Brandon Marshall makes allegiance known ahead of free agency period

Brandon Marshall is on the market and this wasn't a subtle statement.

While it is fair to suggest that Brandon Marshall, at the age of 32, might be beyond his prime as the 2017 NFL season approaches, there is no question that the six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver still has some production left in the tank. That belief made his release from the New York Jets all the more interesting and, as you might imagine, many people around the league are very interested to see where Marshall lands in free agency.

Marshall may have tipped his hand a bit, though, and he did so on his own. The talented wide receiver indicated the following about the Pittsburgh Steelers while appearing on Inside The NFL (h/t Bryan DeArdo of 247Sports):

"Man, I'm from Pittsburgh, and I'm a Steelers fan," he said. "You guys know how it is being a Steelers fan. It's in our blood."

Simply being a Steelers fan won't make it any clearer that Marshall will actually sign in Pittsburgh but it can't hurt. The team does not have a ton of flexibility after paying Antonio Brown and franchising Le'Veon Bell, but Pittsburgh's secondary wide receiving options aren't tantalizing beyond the possibility that Martavis Bryant returns unscathed from suspension and Marshall could provide stability.

It remains to be seen how much mutual interest there is in this situation, but the presence of Brandon Marshall would make an already scary offense that much more terrifying if this came together.
