Auburn AD calls out football team after 1-2 start

Auburn AD Jay Jacobs weighed in on Auburn's 1-2 start to the season.

When a coach is on the hot seat, there is often the "dreaded vote of confidence" by an athletic director that generally indicates the coach could be gone soon.

What Auburn AD Jay Jacobs said about Auburn's football team is the equivalent of artillery fire compared to the dreaded vote of confidence's BB gun.

From Auburn Undercover:

"We have to stop losing games we should win," Jacobs told AuburnUndercover. "No disrespect to our opponents, but when we have a chance to win, we have to win. We have to get better on offense and continue playing well on defense."

Jacobs did try to prop up Malzahn some, admitting that he knows the head coach is working hard. However, this is not a good look for Malzahn or the football team. After the 7-6 2015 season, the Tigers have started off 1-2 with ugly-looking games against Texas A&M and Clemson at home. Auburn did have opportunities in those games, but the offense has looked terrible and hasn't been able to capitalize.

Auburn faces a critical game against LSU on Saturday. It's another game at home, and if Auburn doesn't get this one, things will start to look bleak for their bowl chances; they still have at Ole Miss, at Georgia, and at Alabama left on the schedule after this game.
