Even Tom Brady admits the Patriots could do the unthinkable following Jamie Collins trade

With a coach like Bill Belichick, nothing is written in stone

Tom Brady wouldn't be shocked to see a trade similar to the one that just sent standout linebacker Jamie Collins to the Browns happen again.

He admits to being surprised by Collins' unceremonious exit, but says it could happen to anyone — even him.

"Yeah, absolutely," Brady told the Boston Herald when asked if he might possibly suffer the same fate someday. "You can't be around this long and not realize that the world will keep spinning and the sun will come up tomorrow without you. That's just the way it goes. I think you enjoy the experiences that you have and also understand it just keeps going on. It could happen to anybody. You just have to show up to work, do the best you can do every day and let your performance just try to speak for itself." "

Collins was sent to Cleveland Monday for a third-round pick in 2017, buttressing the notion that head coach Bill Belichick has absolutely no issue parting ways with talented players. Players like Ty Law, Wes Welker, Willie McGinest, Lawyer Milloy, Asante Samuel, Mike Vrabel and Vince Wilfork, to name a few, have all seen that tendency first-hand.

But Tom Brady? The player that's turned New England into the NFL's preeminent franchise? We'd have to see that to believe it, but it would without a doubt be Belichick's most ruthless move ever.
