An investigation into an alleged sexual assault committed by four Purdue University football players on two female students has concluded with no criminal charges being filed.

The alleged assault occurred Oct. 13 at an off-campus apartment around 3:30 a.m., the Lafayette Journal & Courier reported. The two women told police they were drinking wine in their apartment when one of the men began text messaging her about having a threesome. The men eventually picked the women up and took them to their residence, where they drank more wine and smoked marijuana.

The women reportedly told police they eventually began having sex with two of the football players in a bedroom upstairs, and after several minutes two other football players emerged and initiated non consensual sex with them.

The players were suspended from the team, pending the outcome of the case, but were permitted on campus to attend classes.

Wednesday afternoon, the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office, who was conducting the criminal investigation, announced that it had reviewed the evidence and decided not to pursue charges. The University is reportedly still investigating.
