The New England Patriots stomped the Houston Texans to the tune of a 27-0 beatdown Thursday night. But the celebrating was short-lived after rookie third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett suffered a surgery-requiring injury.
With Jimmy Garoppolo still suffering from a sprained AC joint and Tom Brady suspended for one more game, that leaves just wideout Julian Edelman as the lone "quarterback" on the roster.
Before Thursday night's tilt, Edelman was being prepped as the backup.
His lone NFL pass was on a trick play, when he tossed a bomb to Danny Amendola in the 2015 playoffs.
The Patriots will likely chase another quarterback after working out T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree.
