In one of the worst offseason signings, a QB is getting $37 million guaranteed to ride the bench

The Houston Texans must be kicking themselves over this blunder

When the Houston Texans signed Brock Osweiler to a gigantic contract last offseason, they committed one of the most expensive missteps in NFL history.

After Osweiler laid an egg against Jacksonville Sunday with two interceptions on 6-of-11 passing for 48 yards, head coach Bill O'Brien gave him the hook in the second quarter in favor of backup Tom Savage, who ultimately led the Texans to a 21-20 victory.

As Fox Sports points out, Osweiler is guaranteed $37 million on his contract; Savage is guaranteed $300,000, or less than one percent of Osweiler's guarantee.

Osweiler was already one of the lowest rated quarterbacks in the league coming into the game, ranking 31st in quarterback rating, and after Sunday's two picks, having thrown the second most interceptions (16) behind Phillip Rivers.

He  can now also lay claim to being the highest paid benchwarmer in the league.

The fans don't seem to mind. They cheered Osweiler —- when he was benched.
