After Michigan’s wild loss in Columbus over the weekend, Ohio State seems to have the inside track at making the College Football Playoffs.

But ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit sees one way the two-loss Wolverines and the Buckeyes will be fighting for a national championship in a few weeks as members of the final four:

Alabama is pretty much a shoo-in at this point, and Clemson should unquestionably join them if they win the ACC title.

The other half of the final four is very much up for grabs.

Last week’s rankings had Michigan at No. 3, with Washington (No. 5), Wisconsin (No. 6) and Penn State (No. 7) all on their heels.

Why, in this case, would a team like Big-10 champion Wisconsin or Penn State not leapfrog Michigan and Washington if the Huskies lose the Pac-12 title?

Michigan did beat both of those teams, but Penn State also beat Ohio State and a win over Wisconsin would give the Nittany Lions arguably a more impressive resume than the Wolverines.
