After reports circulated Thanksgiving night that Tom Herman was closing in on obtaining the LSU coaching gig, Scout.com’s Chip Brown┬árelayed the latest on the Houston coach.

Per the report, Herman is expected to meet with Texas after Charlie Strong is expected to be let go on Saturday. He could also be pulled away from the Tigers by Oregon, according to the report:

“Sources close to the situation said LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron would likely be the frontrunner for the Tigers’ head-coaching job if Herman was pulled away by either Texas or Oregon. Sources said Oregon mega-booster Phil Knight met with Herman last weekend and the two really hit it off. Current Ducks’ coach Mark Helfrich is 4-7 heading into Saturday’s season finale against Oregon State.”

The trickledown effect could be devastating for Texas if they do indeed release Strong and don’t land Herman. For LSU, it wouldn’t be nearly as brutal, as interim coach Ed Orgeron could take over the job and bring over Alabama’s Lane Kiffin, according to earlier reports.

Saturday should be a wild one, folks.

We’ll continue to track all of the big moves in the college football world.
