Report: Wolverines will face the Black Knights in 2019 for first time since 1962

The Michigan Wolverines have a long history of facing off against MAC opponents on the gridiron, but in 2019 the program will be taking on a slightly more high-profile game. Kevin Kelley of FBSchedules.com reports that the Wolverines will face off against the Black Knights of Army in what will be the second game of the season.

Michigan will host Army at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Sept. 7, 2019, according to a copy of the game contract obtained from the Army Athletic Association under a Freedom of Information Act request.

The Wolverines will pay the Black Knights a $1.5 million guarantee for the game, which will be the 10th overall meeting between the two schools. Army leads the series 5-4 and has won the last four meetings, the last coming in 1962.

At this point, Michigan has one open spot for a non-conference game on the 2019 calendar, but the Wolverines will open the season with the second half of a home-and-home against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
