WWE champ reportedly injured after grueling match at TLC pay-per-view

This would be bad for WWE.

WWE and their world champion may need to get creative in trying to get him time off in the coming weeks.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE Champion A.J. Styles suffered an ankle injury in his title match against Dean Ambrose at the TLC pay-per-view. Styles is not expected to miss any TV time, but he did not wrestle on a SmackDown Live branded house show in Texas on Monday.

Styles has been a major part of WWE this year, holding the world title for 84 days and counting at this point. With the company missing John Cena due to other commitments, the Smackdown Live brand has relied heavily on Styles to continue their ratings success. Styles is one of the most acrobatic wrestlers in the world, and it's no surprise that stunts like the one below eventually led to an injury.

Despite the injury, Styles is expected to wrestle on Tuesday's SmackDown Live episode in a title match against James Ellworth. His status for WWE's next set of house shows on the weekend is unclear.

Hopefull Styles can heal quickly, as he is rumored to be working with The Undertaker in what would be a dream match for WWE fans.
