Former Alabama DB Cyrus Jones thinks this guy is the Tide's next quarterback

The starting quarterback job will be between Blake Barnett and Cooper Bateman.

Just as has been the case for the last few seasons at Alabama, it's unclear who exactly will be starting under center come fall camp. Former Crimson Tide defensive back Cyrus Jones, who participated on Monday in the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, has his own opinion on who will be the starter come fall 2016.

Although Barnett is very talented as a redshirt freshman, Jones says Bateman has the edge because of his experience. Bateman has been at Alabama since 2013 — he took a redshirt in 2014 and was Jacob Coker's back-up last season during the Tide's national championship season in 2015-16. Jones says that while he thinks Bateman will win the job. Barnett has the tools in place to succeed.

"Blake's a very talented guy," he said via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "The sky's the limit for him. Only time will tell, and time is his friend. Just being able to learn each day under (offensive coordinator Lane) Kiffin and those guys on the offensive side. I think as long as he puts the work in, he'll put himself in position to have a chance at the starting spot."

We'll see who has the edge once spring ball rolls around for Alabama next month.
