Despite the appearance that he's all about the money, the loud-talking and fast-moving Conor McGregor dropped the persona to pay tribute to a fellow MMA fighter, Joao Carvalho, who tragically passed away less than 48 hours after suffering a TKO loss over the weekend.
While video of the fight shows the referee letting the bout go on as he gave Carvalho an opportunity to get out of getting ground-and-pounded, the featherweight champ told MMAConnectTV he thought it should have been stopped sooner.
"My team-mate Charlie had a good win just there. Hell of a fight. Yer man [Carvalho] took some big shots," McGregor told MMAConnectTV. "Thought it could have been stopped a little earlier. I feel these referee's need to be on the ball a little bit."
McGregor is set to take on Nate Diaz at UFC 200 in an attempt to avenge his loss from UFC 196.
