Jalen Ramsey's stock may be dropping thanks to one phone call

Not a good look for Jalen Ramsey's stock.

Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey seems destined to land inside the top five in just about a week, when the NFL Draft kicks off.

One phone call may have changed that, according to DallasCowboys.com writer Nick Eatman, per The Landry Hat:

"I was told yesterday the Cowboys were seeking some advice on [Jalen] Ramsey and got an opinion that they thought was going to give them a pretty good report. Turns out it wasn't...at all," Eatman revealed during this week's episode of the Cowboys Break on the team's official site. "I'm not saying their saying 'oh, now we're not taking him'. But they called someone up. Said 'Hey, what do you think about this guy?' And it wasn't glowing."

When asked if it was about him playing corner, Eatman noted it was.

Making a selection at No. 4 overall, there's a lot of pressure to get things right.

If Ramsey can't play cornerback, and he's strictly a safety, is his natural playmaking ability at that position worth the pick, or could we see him drop due to his skills not being able to translate at different positions?

It's late in the game for negative reports to start coming out, but this one could change things up. Or it could just be putting out a report in an attempt to get the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers to pass on the talented Florida State product.
