When you see Joey Gatewood, it's hard not to draw the natural comparison to Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Just 16 years old, and standing 6'4", 223 pounds, but during Gatewood's latest visit to Auburn, he was able to reflect on hearing that comparison directly from Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn, per AL.com:
"When I first walked into Malzahn's office we sat down and we talked with my mom and all. I remember he was like, 'You're the closest thing I've seen to Cam as a recruit since he was here. You saw how he Cam excelled in this offense.' I really think I can excel in the offense too. I have the same three goals as he did when he came: Win the Heisman, win a national championship and become a first-round draft pick at No. 1."
With a cannon for an arm, a massive frame and the athleticism to roll out/throw on the run, Gatewood is certainly the closest we've seen to Newton. The Florida prospect is committed to Auburn, but 247sports' crystal ball gives Florida State an 87 percent chance to flip him.
