Jerry Jones regrets not overpaying for this quarterback in the Draft

I suppose that's not a surprise.

Jerry Jones doesn't have many regrets when it comes to owning and running the Dallas Cowboys, but he did have one after this year's NFL Draft. And that's because more often than not, Jones gets exactly what he wants. He didn't get a quarterback that he wanted though after the first round finished on Thursday night.

Jones really wanted to find Tony Romo's future replacement in the first round much like the Packers did with Aaron Rodgers. However, he ended up taking Mississippi State's Dak Prescott in the fourth round. Jones wanted to go big before he went home and he tried to trade up for Memphis product Paxton Lynch.

"When I look back on my life, I overpaid for my big successes every time," Jones said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "And when I tried to get a bargain, get it a little cheaper or get a better deal on it, I ended up usually either getting it and not happy I got it. Or missing it.

"And I probably should have overpaid here."

Denver ended up giving more to the Seattle Seahawks though and nabbed Lynch away from Jones. Dallas also tried to get Connor Cook in the fourth round, but was thwarted by the Oakland Raiders. The Cowboys eventually grabbed their heir in Prescott, someone who Jones called a "heady player" with "upside."

It's just probably not as much upside as Lynch has and that's what will really grind Jones' gears.
