Jon Jones (22-1) was pulled from the UFC 200 card after a failed drug test, leaving the organization to pick up the pieces just days before one of the biggest cards in UFC's history.
McGregor announced at his UFC 202 presser that he'd be willing to take the fight. As did UFC middleweight titleholder Michael Bisping. But it will be Silva, coming off of gallbladder surgery, who will take on the light heavyweight champion on just two days notice.
Jones has had his fair share of issues and was stripped of the belt more than a year ago. He returned to capture the interim belt in April of this year after Cormier was forced to pull out with an injury.
Silva's run at the top of UFC ended after he was knocked out by Chris Weidman in 2013. He broke his leg in the next fight, followed with a no contest and lost a decision to Michael Bisping. He'll look to get back on top with a win against the undisputed champ.
