Trey Smith is ESPN's top recruit overall in the class of 2017 so you can imagine how many teams are going after him this recruiting cycle. He's already narrowed down his list of schools to six and those programs are going to do everything in their power to sign him.

The 6'5", 300-pound offensive tackle out of Jackson, Tennessee was in Knoxville for an unofficial visit and it sounds like he had a pretty great time. The Vols know how to impress the young man as they set up a satellite camp in his hometown of Jackson and tailored it for linemen so they were already off on a good foot before Smith stepped onto campus.
"Coach Jones, to be honest with you, spent the most time with me out of any head coach that I've dealt with in the recruiting process," Smith said according to Paul Fortenberry of Volquest. "He spent the whole weekend with us. Every time we had a meal he would be there."
After ending his visit, Smith indicated to Ryan Callahan of GoVols247 that he will likely be making two in-season trips to Knoxville this fall - ideally for both the Florida and Alabama games. And most of the 247Sports staff has Smith going to Tennessee in 2017:

Now the Vols will need to deliver on the field if they want to end up delivering off it as well. Wins over Florida and Alabama this year will undoubtedly raise their stock in the eyes of many recruits and getting a big domino like Smith to fall would be a pretty great start.
