The Los Angeles Clippers have been tenants of the Staples Center since it opened in 1999. However, they have been considered the "younger brothers" of the Lakers for a lot longer than that. It seems that has finally gotten to management and ownership as the team is reportedly looking for a new arena to call home.

The Clippers have plenty of time to find a new arena and could very well build one if they like and have the money to do so. Sharing the Staples Center in the first place was likely a cheap cost-cutting measure taken by Donald Sterling. Fortunately, he is no longer the owner and Steve Ballmer is more than willing to spend some money to give his team what it wants.
This would be a good opportunity for the Clippers to claim Los Angeles as its own and take advantage of the momentum it has in the city. The Lakers have failed to make the playoffs since 2013 and have not looked remotely good in that time. That hasn't stopped the Lakers fans from coming out in full force and still making the Staples Center the home of the Lakers more so than the Clippers.
