Both the SEC and the ACC have two teams in the top five of the preseason AP Poll right now, but that is likely to change by the end of the season. However, if it doesn't then we may very well see two schools from the same conference in the playoffs this year.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit went on SportsCenter to talk about the potential of that happening and he does not see the committee giving in and allowing two teams from the same conference to go the playoffs.
"I don't think the committee has it in them after 15 weeks of football to vote two teams from one conference. Even if they think they're in the top four, I don't see them ever doing that. They'll be worried about feedback. This might be a year that it might be a valid point, but I don't think he committee will ever put two teams from one conference in."
It would be pretty difficult to let a conference double up in the playoffs, especially since that means one of those teams either lost their conference championship or didn't even play it in. To get that kind of foursome would also take teams from different divisions that never played each other during the season go undefeated, which is nearly impossible.
