2016 has been a fantastic year for the Cleveland Cavaliers organization, but the afterglow of an NBA title encountered a speed bump in mid-August. We just didn't know it yet.

On Friday morning, the Cavaliers released an official statement and the announcement included details of guard Iman Shumpert being arrested on suspicion of DUI on Aug. 10 in Georgia (h/t Fear the Sword).
Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert was arrested by Fayette County (GA) Police outside Atlanta for suspicion of DUI following an August 10th traffic stop for a lane violation. The Cavaliers have discussed the situation with Iman and will monitor the progression of the pending case. A court date has not been set at this point, and neither Iman or the team will have any additional comments while the matter progresses through the legal process.
This isn't a great look for Shumpert, but with the assertion that he won't be providing any comment, this transgression could fade into the background until the legal proceedings begin. Shumpert famously signed a four-year, $40 million contract before the 2015-2016 season, exercising his leverage into a deal that probably constitutes an overpay, but the former Knicks guard saw his playing time cut as his performance declined.
At this point, it seems as if Cleveland will hold off on any punishment until the legal matter plays out, but Iman Shumpert got arrested and we didn't hear about it for a month.
