You could say Notre Dame still had some Playoff hopes after losing to Michigan State last week to fall to 1-2 on the season. You can no longer say that they have those hopes.

Notre Dame suffered their third loss of the season on Saturday, as Duke walked out of South Bend with a 38-35 victory. It is only Duke's second ever victory over the Fighting Irish, with the other coming back in 1961.
Duke has definitely improved in recent years under head coach David Cutcliffe, but this is still a shocking upset. Duke was a three-touchdown underdog, and they had played terribly in two of their opening three games. Duke only mustered up 27 total points in losses to Northwestern and Wake Forest, but the Blue Devils took control of this game with 28 points at halftime.
Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly will have a lot of explaining to do after this one.
