Michigan absolutely dominated Penn State on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, as the Wolverines outlasted the Nittany Lions by a final score of 49-10. While the officiating crew (obviously) does not identify with either team specifically, one person wearing stripes certainly had a similar fate to that of James Franklin's team.
As you can see above, an errant pass from Penn State absolutely drilled the side judge in the face and it's hard not to laugh at that. Unfortunately, the collision between ball and face did force the official to miss at least a handful of plays, as the television broadcast on ABC mentioned that the alternate official was inserted on the ensuing play.
On the bright side, though, the referee bounced back with haste and he was on the field for the end of what was largely a painful game to watch for non-Michigan fans. The lesson here, as usual, is that every person on the football field must operate with his or her head on a swivel, and this actually could have been much worse.
Since he is okay, it's just funny.
