The Florida Gators took a lot of heat for not coming up with another date to play LSU, but ultimately it was the SEC's call and not either of the schools. While LSU offered to play the game in Baton Rouge on Sunday and offered to pay for accommodations, Florida was not going to give up a home game in-conference.

ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported that Florida had offered November 19 as a makeup date with both teams playing out of conference cupcakes and that LSU refused the date. LSU athletic director Joe Alleva called that a "flat-out lie" and said he hadn't spoken to anyone at Florida about it. So now the two sides are undoubtedly going to have a tense discussion about making up the game because it seems neither side is going to bend and give the other school any sort of advantage in the scheduling of the game.

However, with Tennessee's loss to Texas A&M and a game next weekend against Alabama it's likely that the Gators could try to hold off on any sort of rescheduling of the game lost to Hurricane Matthew. With Florida and Tennessee having only one loss in the conference, Florida actually has an advantage playing one less game because the winning percentage would be higher than Tennessee's.

So the Gators really don't have any incentive to help out the Vols (if UF loses to LSU) if it means they could be representing the East in the SEC Championship Game. While SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey went on CBS yesterday during the Tennessee-Texas A&M game and said he plans to get LSU and UF together to make up the game.
This will surely create some controversy in the coming weeks as teams' records and finishes to the season become more clear. But do you think Florida made the right call on this one? Vote below.
