Athletic director chirps back at hot seat talks from fans: “It’s gotten deathly quiet”

The Tigers travel to Oxford to take on Ole Miss on Saturday.

After the Auburn Tigers started the season 1-2, there was chatter amongst fans and throughout the country about Gus Malzahn being on the hot seat.

Since then, the Tigers have won four consecutive games, including Saturday's 56-3 demolition of Arkansas. Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs apparently hasn't heard any hot seat rumors over the last few weeks.

"It's gotten deathly quiet," Jacobs told USA Today. "In my role and in Gus' role, you don't listen to that. You take care of what's inside the house. And inside the house, everybody's been marching to the beat of the same drummer. I'm just glad to know that Gus and these coaches have helped these players find their identity."

Auburn has had one of the best defenses in the country this season, and they are currently third in scoring defense in the country at 14.1 points per game. The Tigers' rushing attack looks similar to Malzahn's offense during his first season on the Plains, and they are third in the country in rushing at 302.9 yards per game.
