Houston has been mulling around an extension with Tom Herman for over a month now, but amid rumors that Herman could be on his way to LSU, it looks like Houston has finally cracked open the piggy bank. According to the Houston Chronicle's Joseph Duarte, Houston has offered Herman a raise that includes a "7-figure" increase in compensation.

Herman already makes $3 million annually with the Cougars, which was increased from $1.5 million last offseason. Another increase in Herman's pay could see his total salary start to approach $5 million annually, which would put Herman as one of the Top 10 highest paid coaches in college football.

Houston will likely be able to afford it, too, as prominent Houston booster Tilman Fertitta reportedly said that Herman won't be lost over monetary issues.

Houston still has one game left on the regular season, as they play at Memphis on Friday.
