The NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell have proven time and time again to be tone deaf when it comes to domestic violence, and the league made another questionable decision this week.

Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver Tyreek Hill returned a punt for a touchdown in the Chiefs' 30-27 overtime win over the Denver Broncos Sunday night, and a picture was captured of Hill giving a high-five to teammate DeAnthony Thomas while going into the end zone. The NFL made the picture the header of its Twitter account.
The image is harmless — despite the irony of the NFL promoting a touchdown celebration, even though they routinely penalize players for excessive celebration — but the fact they're using Hill and promoting him is troublesome.
Hill was one of the most talented receivers in last year's draft, but he slipped to the fifth round. Hill was kicked off the Oklahoma State football team after he punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and choked her two years ago. Hill's talent is indisputable, and he's had a great season. But he's not the type of player the NFL should be promoting.
Hill reached a plea agreement and is currently serving three years' probation. The NFL has handled several domestic violence issues poorly in recent years, including Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, Ray McDonald and more recently, Josh Brown.
There were plenty of impressive performances over the weekend the NFL could've chosen to promote. Instead, they went the controversial route. We should expect nothing less from the NFL.
