Kirk Herbstreit thinks only one team can beat Alabama in the Playoff

Is he right?

Now that we know which teams will be playing where, Herbstreit is convinced that there is only one team that could beat Alabama in the Playoff and it's one that came close last year.

From his appearance on Mike & Mike this morning:

"You have to say Clemson. Clemson's been that team all year. Preseason I picked Clemson to beat Alabama in the national championship. It had everything to do with their quarterback, the playmakers he has around them and the defense that has played, for the most part, pretty well this year. With that being said, Ohio State has a chance athletically to match up with Clemson and give them very good game.

"If Clemson is hitting on all cylinders and playing the way they're capable of playing, I think they're capable of playing with Alabama. The thing that makes me very, very confused with Clemson is at times they look like they can move the ball on anybody and other times, they're very erratic and they turn the ball over."

Of course, Clemson lost to Alabama last year, but not before making it an exciting 45-40 game. Clearly Clemson knows how to score on Alabama and will have basically the same offensive weapons should they meet in the title game again with the addition of receiver Deon Cain —- he was suspended for last year's game.

Clemson will have to get by Ohio State first who is a 2.5 favorite over the Tigers in the Fiesta Bowl.
