Louisville's Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy, but he wasn't voted as the top player in the country by ESPN.

ESPN ranked the top 50 college football players in the country heading into bowl season, and Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen was voted as the top player in the country. Allen finished seventh in the Heisman voting.
Jackson checked in at No. 3 behind Oklahoma receiver Dede Westbrook. Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was No. 4 on the list. Alabama had three players in the top 10, including Allen, linebacker Reuben Foster (6) and defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick (10).

ESPN analyst Todd McShay also has Allen going No. 1 to the Cleveland Browns in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Allen earned consensus All-America honors on top of being awarded the Bednarik Award, Hendricks Award and Nagurski Award.
