There has been a lot of talk this year about how the SEC is having a down season, but it looks like some believe that it might not be limited to just 2016.

After Virginia Tech overcame a 24-point deficit to beat Arkansas on Thursday — and drop the SEC to 1-4 this bowl season — ESPN's Mark Schlabach dropped this little factoid about the SEC over the past three years against the ACC.
That's right, the ACC — which is often seen as one of the lesser of the Power 5 conferences — holds a winning record over the SEC over the past three years. The two conferences play often, too, so the sample size is rather significant.
The damage hasn't just been done by Florida State and Clemson, either. Georgia Tech is 4-1 against the SEC in that timespan, and the Yellow Jackets will have a chance to make it 5-1 in the Tax Slayer Bowl on Saturday against Kentucky.
Of course, there is one caveat: fans of SEC schools will be more than glad to point up at the national title scoreboard over the past decade as a way to respond to this three-year surge by the ACC.
