Clemson has had almost unmatched success when it comes to developing defensive tackles in recent years. Part of that is because of the excellent coaching of Dan Brooks who coaches that specific position. He has been with the Tigers since 2008 when Dabo Swinney took over as head coach.

Brooks officially retired at the national title parade though in Clemson after 33 years coaching in college. He's produced 30 NFL picks, seven first-round selections, three All-Americans, an Outland Trophy winner and 14 all-conference picks.
Swinney made the announcement at the parade that ended in Death Valley and he sounded pretty sad that Brooks was going to call it a career.
"There has never been a coach that has been more committed or cares about his players than Dan Brooks. Ever. Dan is 65 and decided he wants to retire and go out on top. I tried to talk him out of it but this is what he wants to do. Dan Brooks - you deserve this brother. You deserve this."
Brooks was also named the 2016 Assistant Coach of the Year for FBS by the American Football Coaches Association.
