There were a ton of coaching hires and fires made this offseason with few being more high-profile than Lane Kiffin going from Alabama to FAU, Charlie Strong going from Texas to USF and Tom Herman bolting from Houston to take Strong's spot as Texas' head coach.

That prompted FOX Sports' Stewart Mandel to go through and give a grade for every coaching hire this offseason. However, none of those moves were given the best grade. That distinction belongs to Big Ten cellar dweller Purdue and its hiring of Jeff Brohm. He gave the hire an "A+" and had this to say:
"This feels like an almost-perfect marriage. Brohm spent the past four seasons about 300 miles south on I-65 churning out innovative, record-setting offenses. Now, he returns to the Big Ten (where he was formerly an assistant at Illinois) to rejuvenate a program that desperately needs something to get excited about. He'll be causing defensive coordinators fits within a couple of years."
Meanwhile, Tom Herman's hiring was given an "A" and Strong's hiring at USF was given an "A" as well. However, Mandell was not nearly as nice with Kiffin going to FAU. He gave the FAU a "D" and he didn't have a whole lot to say about the hire except for this:
"Sure, hire Lane Kiffin. What could possibly go wrong?"

That's a pretty big surprise considering how everyone thought Kiffin deserved to get another shot at being a head coach even though he left two programs in shambles ((Tennessee and USC) after he left them.
