According to 247sports' breakdown, Alabama has led the country in landing five-star recruits since 2010 with 33. Florida State is just behind them with 23.

Both schools have won National Championships, but the two teams that are just behind them — USC (18) and Georgia (16) — have massively underperformed despite hauling in a handful of top recruits.
Obviously some sanctions held USC back, but a 54-25 record is embarrassing when considering teams such as Oregon and Arizona outperformed the Trojans.
In that time span, USC has blitzed through five head coaches (Lane Kiffin 2010-13, Clay Helton 2013 and 2015-16, Ed Orgeron 2013, Steve Sarkisian 2014-15) if you include interim runs. In that span, the Trojans have been in the top 10 of the AP poll at the year's end only twice — 2016 (No. 3) and 2011 (No. 6). USC would win three of five bowl games. In its conference championship game in 2015, Stanford upended USC, 41-22.
The same can be said for formerly Mark Richt, now Kirby Smart's Bulldogs. Georgia has just two top-10 finished in the AP poll since 2010 — 2012 (No. 5) and 2014 (No. 9). The Bulldogs have gone 4-3 in bowl games over that span, but includes collapses under both regimes down the stretch. Georgia last played in the SEC Championship game in 2012, a 32-28 loss to Alabama. The Bulldogs last won a conference title in 2005 against LSU.
Richt is now at Miami, while Orgeron has taken over at LSU and Sarkisian is the offensive coordinator at Alabama.
