On a recent appearance on Colin Cowherd's radio show, Carr said while he's a team-first player, the Raiders have had the benefit of him being on a rookie contract, and he deserves a big pay day for his next deal.

"Everybody's situation is different," Carr said. "I'm obviously a team guy, first and foremost. There's no No. 4 without the rest of the team. There's no doubt about that. I'll never be sitting here saying I'm better than I am or anything like that, because I know that I'm nothing without those guys. So, I'm always a team guy. At the same time, they had three or four years of the rookie contract, too, to build the team and things like that.

"And then I just start thinking about my family. Thinking about my boys, thinking about all the people in Haiti — I have a heart for Haiti — that I could help. I think about all the churches that I'm attached to and all the people that that could help. That's what motivates me — it's not for me. I wear the same clothes that I've had since college, and I wear all the free stuff the Raiders give me, so it's not about that stuff to me. It's about helping people. I'm obviously not greedy, I'm not anything like that, but it'll just come down to what we all agree on."

Based on what other top quarterbacks are being paid, Carr can expect a contract worth more than $20 million annually when his rookie deal is up after the 2017 season. Carr led the Raiders to a 12-4 record in 2016, but a leg injury kept him from playing in the playoffs against the Houston Texans.
