After his dismissal from Auburn, North Carolina defensive coordinator Gene Chizik spent two years, 2013 and 2014, out of the coaching profession that included some work on television. Now, it appears he might be on his way back to the broadcast booth in some capacity.

Doug Samuels of FootballScoop brings word that the Tar Heels are set to add North Texas defensive coordinator to the defensive staff and, perhaps more importantly, that could mean Chizik is set to depart.
Carolina currently does not have an opening, but sources have indicated for some time Gene Chizik is considering stepping back from coaching, with a move into TV a strong possibility.

For better or worse, Chizik will always be known as the man who manned the sideline during Auburn's Cam Newton-led title run in 2010. However, that doesn't mean he has to spend his entire adult life coaching and a move to TV could be exactly what he wants and/or needs.
