Under the leadership of Jim Harbaugh, the Michigan Wolverines have been a recruiting force and the program's level of play has vastly improved. However, Harbaugh's style isn't for everyone and that combined with the normal turnover associated with a regime change has prompted a number of now-former Wolverines to move on to continue their football careers elsewhere.

Wide receiver Freddy Canteen is no exception, as word broke in early January that the veteran pass-catcher would be moving on via graduate transfer. On Saturday, Canteen took to Twitter to announce his new destination and he will be playing football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2017.

Canteen landed in Ann Arbor as a four-star prospect in 2014 and he actually completed his bachelor's degree in just two years. As a result, he will be eligible immediately in South Bend and, in another encouraging development for the Irish, the 6-foot-3 wide receiver will two years of additional eligibility upon arrival.
While it is likely that Canteen will never develop into a legitimate star asset, keeping him healthy would provide depth and talent to Notre Dame's receiving corps. The stated reason for Canteen's absence in 2016 was a long-term shoulder injury, but the Irish undoubtedly have a plan for treatment and this could be a nice shot in the arm for the program on the perimeter.
