One of the biggest stories for the UGA program this offseason has been the status of standout defensive lineman Trenton Thompson. Georgia Bulldogs' head coach Kirby Smart gave an update on Thompson at UGA's Pro Day and confirmed Thompson is working towards coming back to the program and won't be involved in anything this spring.

"He's doing very well, very pleased with his progress," Smart answered when asked about Thompson's progress. "He continues to get better, and that's the biggest thing for us right now. It's a day by day process, rehabbing the shoulder, making sure he's well. He's done a really good job of that. He's increased his weight."
Thompson withdrew from all of his classes this spring due to what has been considered a very serious medical issue. This is the first big update UGA has given on the status of Thompson right now and what the future may hold him for him in Athens.
Smart seems optimistic that Thompson could return to UGA this summer, but also noted because of Thompson's shoulder injury that he would have been sidelined this spring anyway.
Thompson played in all 13 games for the Dawgs in 2016-17. He was the No. 1 overall recruit from the 2015 class.
