Florida State has been able to do something not even Alabama could over the past three years

Florida State has done a remarkable job in this regard.

Almost every major college football program has staff turnover every year. Alabama and Ohio State have nearly completely different coaching staffs heading into next season. Florida State, on the other hand, has kept its coaching staff intact for three straight seasons. The Seminoles join only Michigan State and Northwestern as the only Power 5 programs to do so.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said stability has helped his program stay among the elite programs in the country.

"It lets you know what's going on, it's stability, guys get relationships," Fisher said via Coaching Search. "People don't realize, 'Change this, change that,' well that's all great. Everybody wants change in this world now, but you're breaking relationships, how a guy's coached, how a guy's told what to do, how he knows what the coach wants and all that. It helps when you keep continuity."

Fisher said it helps that he has mostly veteran coaches on his staff, so they aren't looking to jump around to other jobs.

"Old, experienced, know what to do," Fisher said. "Not enamored by all the things, like young players, eyes get giddy and the grass is always greener. They've been through that. They've won championships, they've been in big-time programs. They understand what it's all about. They know we have a great program."

Co-offensive coordinator and QB coach Randy Sanders has been with FSU since 2013, and co-offensive coordinator at wide receivers coach Lawrence Dawsey has been with the team since 2007. Defensive coordinator and DB coach Charles Kelly, running backs coach and special teams coordinator Jay Graham, and tight ends coach Tim Brewster have been with the team since 2013.

Offensive line coach and assistant head coach Rick Trickett joined the program in 2007, and linebackers coach Bill Miller joined in 2014. Defensive ends and outside linebackers coach Brad Lawing is the newest member to the staff, and he joined in 2015. Defensive tackles and associate head coach Odell Haggins is the longest tenured member of the staff, and he joined the program in 1994.

Staff continuity is difficult to maintain in college football, but Fisher's ability to do so at Florida State has helped the Seminoles remain one of the top programs in the sport.
