Brian Kelly pulled no punches in calling out NFL draft prospect DeShone Kizer

This isn't the type of message you typically hear about a draft prospect from his former coach.

DeShone Kizer left Notre Dame early to enter the 2017 NFL Draft and, for the most part, that is seen as a wise decision for the talented quarterback. While Kizer may not be seen on the same plane as fellow quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Mitchell Trubisky, he is incredibly talented to the point where many believe Kizer could sneak into the first round when the draft actually arrives.

Kizer's former college coach, Brian Kelly, seems to have a slightly more tempered opinion of the quarterback, though, and he happened to share it on Monday.

This is rather scathing from Kelly, especially when considering that former college coaches are often the biggest advocates of their own players. While some of Kelly's criticism and evaluation could be true based on Kizer's reputation as a very "raw" prospect, it is an entirely different thing to state such a thing in front of a microphone and this likely won't sit well with Kizer and his representatives.

Brian Kelly is known for his unwillingness to hide his true feelings, to the point where it has gotten him into trouble in the past. That penchant came back to bite him again here and it will be interesting to see what, if any, response comes from Kizer.
